Kelly O’Rourke is the Tasmania area manager for O'Brien® Glass but this month, she is also moonlighting as the voice of one of our new glazing radio ads currently running in Tasmania.
Using real technicians in our advertising is something that O'Brien® does a lot. Involving people from the frontline in our advertising lends credibility to the ads but also helps marketing get to the crux of what is most important to say.
Kelly recorded her ad that is currently playing across the state just this month and, although it was her first time in the studio, she nailed the experience. She also allowed the marketing team to pick her brain when they were creating the script for the ad.
The purpose of the radio ads was to make customers aware that O'Brien® Glass has a team of local expert glaziers who can assist with 24/7 emergency glass repair or replacement in your home or business. Cracked or damaged glass can be a potential hazard and it’s important you get it fixed quickly. O'Brien® glaziers can complete a ‘make safe’ process to reduce the risks associated with broken glass and we want people to know we can do this quickly and easily for them.

Vivian Oppl, group marketing head, O'Brien®, asked Kelly to step in as the voice of O'Brien® Glass in Tasmania and was incredibly happy with the result and the energy Kelly brought to the recording studio.
“We know from previous experience that casting our own glaziers is an effective way to put an authentic O'Brien spin on our ads so I was excited when Kelly was up for it,” said Vivian.
A bit about Kelly
Kelly has been with O'Brien® Glass for 8 years, working with and managing a professional team of expert glaziers. She is a keen learner and seizes any opportunity for further development so was happy to be involved in recording the ads. She was a part of the process from early on; helping to write the script and brainstorm ideas on what message was most important to her Tasmanian customers.
“Kelly offered some great insights and suggestions when we were shaping the script as well as giving us that unique perspective on what glaziers in her area experience daily,” said Vivian.
Of the experience, Kelly said:
“When it was suggested we run some radio ads and that I would be the voice for the ad to keep it local and relevant, of course I was happy to accept.”
Marketing isn’t a part of the business Kelly would normally be exposed to and she was interested to see all that goes into making an ad.
On the day, it was clear Kelly had applied her solid work ethic to preparation and nailed her recording.
Outside of glazing work and the recording studio, you will find Kelly spending time with her family and friends; camping, in the caravan or on the quad bikes.
