How long does a windscreen replacement take?
How long does a windscreen replacement take?
It takes around 90 minutes for our O’Brien technicians to replace a windscreen. After the new windscreen is in place, all you need to do is wait for 15 minutes and you can drive away with confidence.
If your vehicle has ADAS features, the forward-facing camera may need to be recalibrated after your windscreen is replaced, which takes additional time.
We recommend avoiding washing your car (by hand or drive-through car wash) or touching, pushing or putting any pressure on the new glass within the first 24 hours after replacement, as this may interfere with the adhesive setting process.

Learn more about windscreen replacement
When booking your windscreen replacement service, our expert consultants will ask you a few questions to accurately identify the exact windscreen required for your vehicle.
Every vehicle make and model windscreen can fit slightly differently. At O’Brien, we have the instructions for some of the newest vehicle makes and models on the market, so our expertly trained O’Brien AutoGlass technicians always know what to do.
Most manufacturers require vehicles with forward-facing cameras that form part of vehicle’s ADAS, such as automated braking, lane departure warnings, to be recalibrated following a windscreen replacement.
Our Cal-Tech® recalibration technology is specifically designed to check that, after your windscreen is replaced, the camera that looks through your windscreen is recalibrated and working properly before you leave. For your convenience, we can perform both a windscreen replacement and a Cal-Tech® Recalibration at the same time for most vehicles.
No, it shouldn’t – O’Brien can replace your windscreen and perform a recalibration for most vehicle types, meaning we can do it all in one visit.

If your vehicle doesn’t have ADAS technology, a mobile technician may be able to come to you to replace your windscreen, saving you time. Ask our friendly consultant when you call to make a booking if our mobile service is available at the time you would like it.
How much does a windscreen replacement cost?
The cost of replacing your windscreen will depend on several factors such as the vehicle make and model, if your vehicle has ADAS technology (which may mean a Cal-Tech® Recalibration will be required), and whether you have insurance coverage for glass damage.
As Australia’s leading vehicle glass specialists, we work closely with most major insurance providers. If you are insured with glass cover and no excess, your repair or replacement will more than likely be at no cost to you. Plus, we often can even lodge the claim for you!
