What is a Thermostatic Mixing Valve?
Thermostatic Mixing Valve’s mix the supply of hot and cold water to ensure that hot water is produced at an even, consistent temperature to prevent scalding and risk of injury.
To prevent dangerous bacteria from spreading in water storage tanks, water must be kept at a significantly high temperature. However, because water above 60 degrees Celsius has the potential to scald, TMV’s will keep the water supplied at the point of use at a safe temperature.
If the TMV detects that the supply of water is too high and cannot reduce it with cold water, for example if cold water is lost, then the TMV will shut off water supply completely to prevent injury.
