Dimitrius (Jim) Polites was born and bred in Port Melbourne and has spent the last 18 years servicing that area as a glazier with O'Brien®.

Jim loves the diversity and multiculturalism of the area.

“Port Melbourne has a bit of everything you have great eating spots, shops and then you have the beach right there.”

With a few trades under his belt (Jim formerly worked as an electrician and carpenter), he says the best thing about his role now is variety.

“You can be involved in anything from simple repairs at a person’s home to project work that involves multiple glaziers.”

Jim likes working as part of a team and solving problems.

“One of the more complex jobs I worked on involved 14 glaziers and blocking off an entire street and craning glass in over a house. In that situation, we all bounce ideas of each other to nut out the best solution.”

Outside of work, you’ll find Jim in the great outdoors. Hiking or skiing are two of his favourite past times along with spending time with his young family.
