Last month The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released their findings on climate change and the impacts of global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. Whilst the findings are alarming, experts say the fight against climate change isn’t over and there are ways we can all take action to help solve the crisis – there IS hope.
Whilst there are a number of ways that you can help act on climate change from an individual level, below are four simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint within your home or business. Here’s what you can do:
1. Use renewable energy such as solar
Did you know that solar is the cheapest form of electricity generation? Installing solar panels in your home or business is an effective way to reduce your carbon footprint and to make the most of the suns FREE energy source.
Government rebates are available through the Solar Victoria solar panel (PV) program, making it more affordable than ever before to install solar. Our friendly team of solar consultants can work with you on your solar installation plan and we offer an obligation-free call to get the ball rolling and to answer any of your solar questions.

2. Switch over to energy-efficient LED lighting
LED lighting is much more energy-efficient compared to traditional lighting such as halogen and fluorescent globes. With LEDs you can expect to use a tenth or less wattage. If your whole home or business is upgraded to LEDs, you will notice the cost savings on your next energy bill! Not only that, LEDs are much brighter and last longer too.

3. Choose appliances that have a high star energy rating
When shopping for your next dishwasher, washing machine or fridge be mindful of the energy rating of that appliance and its energy output. Simply look out for the Energy Rating label and opt for higher stars; the more stars = the more energy efficient.
4. Turn off the lights
Remember, every little bit counts. Turn off the lights when exiting the room and switch appliances off at the wall when not in use. Also, be mindful of appliances that are consuming unnecessary amounts of power – if you don’t need it, don’t use it.
